The meeting in a nutshell
In this Learning, Teaching and Training Activity, robotics and the impact of robots in modern life were explored. Besides, by working in international teams, students had the opportunity to develop active citizenship in the school environment and improve their digital, language and communication skills. Through the field trips, they also learned and shared cultural aspects of their countries. In addition, all the activities of the mobility were designed to promote students' initiative, agility, self-confidence, autonomy and creativity and to make them mobilize knowledge and develop social and intercultural competences of various subjects.
Through the workshops on Robotics (“Robotics” and “Why are robots important in our life?”) and the project work at the hosting school, students acquired knowledge on what real robots are, how they operate and what they are capable to do, their use in space exploration, in medicine, in exploration of oceans, as well as their use in other operations. Also, they experimented with toy robots (Arduino and LEGO) at our Robotics lab and were assisted to learn things by using the available tools.
Concerning outdoor learning training activities, teachers and students visited the robotics section of Universidade do Minho, where they had the chance both to see how robots function and what they can achieve, and do some experiments, as well. Additionally, the teams had the chance to explore the history and traditions of Portugal through a cultural and historical tour of Braga, a funicular ride to Bom Jesus, a visit to Sameiro Sanctuary and a boat trip on the Douro River.
At the hosting school, the participants watched an Acrobatic Gymnastics Exhibition and took part in a dinner at school, within an international cuisine evening, having the chance to taste foods from the partners’ countries and sing traditional songs, developing cultural awareness and respect for diversity.
